Beat the Heat Run - Saturday morning, closest to July 4th. Annual foot race that draws over 300 area participants.
Celebration of Freedom - 4th of July fireworks display and community event. Patriotic program held on the SBU Campus. Free event.
Gaited Horse Show
Annual Country Days Rodeo - Second weekend in July. IPRA-ACRA professional rodeo, entertainment, carnival rides, and arts & crafts.
Polk County Junior Livestock Show and Youth Fair - Second week in July at the fairgrounds.

National Night Out - First Tuesday in August. Annual Picnic and swimming.

Polk County Picnic & Reunion - September 8th at the Bolivar Square.

Annual Bolivar Chili CookOff - Proceeds to benefit the area charities. Behind Bolivar YMCA. 8am-6pm
December
Bolivar Chamber of Commerce Bowl - First Saturday in December. Teams from the Heart of America and Mid-South conference will compete. The game will be played at Plaster Stadium of SBU.
Festival of Christmas - First Sunday Evening in December. The Festival of Christmas is a community worship service inaugurating the Christmas season. Area churches and schools participate. An offering is taken to assist the needy in Polk County.
Christmas Parade - Second Saturday in December. Begins at 2pm.
